Many people believe that being in a Fraternity means that your life becomes about the Fraternity. In our Fraternity, that is not the case.
We have Brothers that span all the University's campuses, who are involved in many other activities outside of the Fraternity. Our brotherhood can be found editing the Daily Targum, involved in Concert Organizations on Livingston Campus, involved with the Ski Team, Red Shirting, and refereeing Intramural Sports. If you are looking to take a more political route, you can find Skull Brothers in the RCGA and in the University Senate.
At Phi Kappa Sigma, we do not take academics lightly. We make sure our New Members have ample time to study during the week, which is why our New Member GPA was recently 2nd highest among the Greeks. It is not uncommon for a new member to drastically improve their grades while being involved in Phi Kappa Sigma. Our Chapter GPA is among the top for any organization on campus. Many of our brothers make the Dean's list and receive other academic accolades. We even have a database dedicated to passing on class assistance such as notes and study tips from generation to generation. Check out our PowerPoint presentation given by our academic chair.
Greek organizations have their own intramural league, called the Keller Cup. Our football team won the championship two years ago, and was nearly undefeated again this year. We have made it far in the playoffs in many of the other sports, and are always considered formidable competition for other fraternities. Outside of Keller you can always find brothers for pick up games, lifting at the gym or any other athletic endeavor.
Phi Kappa Sigma International Fraternity is one of the oldest fraternities in the country. It was founded in 1850 and has since grown into a very special place that promotes brotherhood in its truest form. One of the most important objectives of the Fraternity is to help its members develop into responsible, intelligent, and reliable men. This includes treating its members like family and any procedures associated with hazing or any forms of demoralization are strictly prohibited within the Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity.
Academics are a key focus for the members of Phi Kappa Sigma. This Fraternity has one of the highest GPA's among fraternities on campus every semester. Grades are very important and members meet during the week at study hours to help one another and study in order to ensure high academic performance. Academics are not taken lightly by members and good scholarship is a tradition within the Fraternity.
Besides academics, you can find members involved in many organizations all over campus. The Daily Targum, Rutgers Interfraternity Council, Student government, RUCC, NSO, Ski Team, and Intramural Athletics are just a few things that many members are involved in. Phi Kappa Sigma offers each individual the chance of a lifetime in which he can have a great time, develop lifelong relationships, and succeed academically. We hope you take the opportunity to learn about Phi Kappa Sigma and experience brotherhood in its truest form.
Our anti-hazing policy truly distinguishes us from other fraternities. All fraternities have a national No Hazing policy but unfortunately many chapters ignore this. We ask, How can you treat a man like a dog and then turn around and call him your brother? Our chapter was founded in 1990 upon the beliefs that any demeaning, demoralizing, or otherwise nonconstructive acts will not be tolerated in any degree. Any new member that feels he is being a victim of hazing can call 1-888-PKS-INTL and report the incident. Phi kappa Sigma is also a dry fraternity. The use of any alcoholic products is strictly prohibited.
